Meet Megan 🤝

Meet Megan, Co-founder of SLATE Event Management, from Atlanta, GA.

Megan is a seasoned event management professional with a lifelong passion for orchestrating unforgettable experiences. From impromptu neighborhood gatherings as a child, to coordinating international conferences, she has cultivated over 15 years of expertise in event logistics, operations, and hospitality.

Rooted in her childhood, Megan discovered her love for planning and bringing people together. Those early days of organizing games, clubs and celebrations in the neighborhood ignited a spark that continues to fuel her career today.

Megan began her professional career in corporate events with Palace Entertainment. Organizing team building activities for companies, corporate meetings and luncheons.

In 2014 she entered the conference and trade show space with Emerald Expositions,  an industry leading show organizer with a portfolio of over 100 events annually. She quickly rose to lead operations for multiple annual shows with attendance up to 30,000 per event.  Emerald is also where she met Matt Murnane… more to come on that below!

In late 2018, Megan moved to Austin, Texas and joined the Freeman family. Here, she gained valuable experience on the vendor side of the industry,  specializing in audio visual and live streaming. She produced a diverse collection of 30+ conferences and trade shows annually, working with clients all over the U.S.

Throughout her career, Megan and Matt remained friends and colleagues, sharing crazy event stories, industry resources, and a drink whenever they could end up in the same city!

In 2021 when Matt reached out looking for an Operations Director to support his team, Megan was thrilled at the opportunity to work together again and delve into the fintech industry! Megan and Matt managed operations and logistics for five annual events, in addition to workshops and networking events throughout the year.

In 2023, Fintech Nexus dissolved their events division to focus on digital media and webinars.

Unexpectedly this became the catalyst for an exciting new chapter in  Megan's career journey. Embracing this change with resilience and determination, Megan and Matt founded SLATE Event Management.

SLATE has empowered Megan to continue her passion for live events, where she can bring people together and create memorable and innovative experiences that consistently surpass expectations.
